The International Mobile Equipment Identity number (IMEI), usually a 15 digit number, is a unique number for every GSM and UMTS mobile phone. The first 8 digits are the “TAC”, the Type Allocation Code number, which identifies the origin, or make, and model of the phone. The following numbers are a serial number. As an example, Sony Ericsson usually records their IMEIs in the format XXXXXXXX-XXXXXX-X-XX where the last two numbers are not part of the IMEI.
Our Mobile Phone Passport service allows you to check the provenance of your phone, that is to say the make and model. It also serves as a way of tracking the status of its owner! You can protect yourself from a possible loss or theft of your mobile phone. Sign up and add your phone into an international database. As the saying goes, “better safe than sorry!”
